Toby Lanzer (born 1965), a national of the United Kingdom, is currently a United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and the Regional Humanitarian Coordinator for the Sahel, including for the Lake Chad basin. He took up his current duties on 21 July 2015. Since joining UNDP in 1992, he has held various positions in the UN system, including: * Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS)〔(United Nations Press Release 07-26-2012 )〕 * Chief of Staff of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste (UNMIT) * Deputy Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) * UNDP Resident Representative in the Central African Republic * Chief of the Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP) based in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) * Head of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Moscow, Russian Federation He has also worked in Brazil, Chile and Georgia. The holder of a post-graduate certificate in forced migration, a master's degree in international affairs, with a specialization in economic and political development, and a bachelor's degree in history, Toby Lanzer was educated at the University of Oxford, as well as Columbia University and the University of New Hampshire.
